Italy’s football stars were set to train without distraction for Euro 2008 on Monday after two women were stripped of their accreditations for taking off their clothes on the practice pitch the previous day.

Reports said that the two women, identified later as members of a small TV station team, had stormed the pitch on Sunday and started removing their clothes.

One of them had stripped down to a small bikini when security forces led them off the pitch. They lost their accreditations for the camp over the incident.

The players from World Cup champion Italy gathered Sunday for the training camp. Italy face a tough group at the tournament played June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland, as their opponents are World Cup finalist France, the Netherlands and Romania. - Sapa-dpa

NCO on trial for secretly filming female airman

A noncommissioned officer working at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., faces charges tied to allegations that he filmed a female airman without her consent and attempted to film a second unknowing and undressed female airman.

Staff Sgt. Victor Rodgers, assigned to the 10th Medical Support Squadron, will be court-martialed Tuesday at the academy. His seven alleged violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice include videotaping a female airman without her consent, soliciting an airman to place a video camera in a women’s changing room and attempting to film another undressed female airman without her consent. The woman he allegedly taped was using a breast pump at the time.

Rodgers is also charged with wrongfully trying to influence witness testimony before the court-martial and failing to obey his commander’s no-contact orders with witnesses.

Rodgers’ maximum punishment, if convicted on all charges, would be dishonorable discharge, reduction in rank to airman basic, 14 years in confinement and a full stripping of pay and allowances.

Lady Godivas ride naked through London

Naked women mounted horses to ride through London’s Hyde Park in London today in a truly unashamed publicity stunt for the film Lady Godiva.

Up to 50 women bared their all, or stripped down to a slim pair of knickers, for a cancer charity supported by the film’s director Vicky Jewson.

For each rider in the saddle, Jewson donated a “Godiva” - cockney slang for £5 - to Maggie’s , a charity that runs information and support centres for people affected by cancer.

Some volunteers sported wigs of cascading curls that evoked the image of the mediaeval lady on her steed - while also going some way to preserving their modesty.

Legend has it that Lady Godiva had long golden hair and portraits have been discovered that may support the theory.

Little is known of her aside from her naked ride through Coventry to obtain remission for the townspeople from the heavy taxes imposed by her husband Leofric, Earl of Mercia.

The British film Lady Godiva is a romantic comedy shot set in modern day Oxford in the vein of Notting Hill and Bridget Jones.

It stars Phoebe Thomas Matthew Chambers and James Wilby and was released in cinemas in January.

It is available on DVD from today.

LONDON, England (CNN) — A picture of an overweight woman lying naked on a couch, painted by British artist Lucian Freud, set a record Tuesday night for the most money paid for a painting by a living artist.

The 1995 life-size work, “Benefits Supervisor Sleeping,” fetched $33.6 million during bidding at Christie’s auction house in New York. The previous record was for “Hanging Heart,” a painting by Jeff Koonz that sold for $23.5 million, said Rik Pike, a spokesman for Christie’s.

“Benefits Supervisor Sleeping” depicts Sue Tilley, a manager of a government-run job center in London, lying on her side on a worn-out couch with nothing to hide her folds of flesh.

Christie’s calls it a “bold and imposing example of the stark power of Lucian Freud’s realism,” depicting “the forceful and undeniable physical presence of people and things.”

Tilley, 51, said she was initially embarrassed to pose naked for the artist, but they soon grew comfortable in the studio — so comfortable, in fact, that she confessed to falling asleep while posing.

“I didn’t mind if he noticed,” she said.

The painting challenges modern notions of beauty and elicits a reaction from everyone who sees it. That may have been precisely the aim of Freud, who told London’s Tate Gallery in 2002 that he wanted his paintings to “astonish, disturb, seduce, convince.”….

Collectors may also view this as a rare chance to buy something by a prolific artist painted at the peak of his work, he said.

Freud, 85, has been described as Britain’s greatest living realist painter. He is the grandson of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and came to London from Germany when he was a child.

A Sydney primary school teacher suspended over a nude photo shoot in a women’s magazine says she will fight to save her career.

Lynne Tziolas, 24, is launching legal action against the NSW Education Department to be reinstated to her position at Narraweena Public School.

Her students’ families are also rallying in support, organising a petition for her to keep her job.

The Year 1 teacher and her husband Antonios Tziolas, 45, appear together in a sealed section of this month’s Cleo magazine, discussing their relationship and sex life, alongside nine other couples.

Despite the fallout from the publication, the Tziolases say they stand by their actions and would do it again.

Mrs Tziolas, who has been a full-time temporary teacher for two years at the school in Sydney’s northern beaches, was notified by letter last week that her employment had ended.

“The teacher’s engagement has been ceased and the Department of Education and Training’s Employee Performance and Conduct Branch is investigating,” a department spokesman said in a statement.

The findings of that investigation could end Mrs Tziolas’ short career as a teacher with the department.

“We have the power to do that,” the spokesman told AAP when asked if such investigations could ban a teacher from the NSW public school system.

The department said Mrs Tziolas’ suspension followed complaints from “several” parents at the school.

“Several Narraweena parents complained to the school about photographs and inappropriate sexual comments in a Cleo magazine article,” the spokesman said.

Mr Tziolas disagrees.

“The photo shoot was perceived as a problem by some people in the community and the suspension came after one anonymous complaint by a concerned parent,” Mr Tziolas, also a qualified teacher, said.

While Mrs Tziolas hopes she can return to her class, saying she misses her students, she fears she will never be allowed to teach at the school again.

“During the meeting in which I was handed this letter, it was pretty much made certain to me that my reinstatement at Narraweena would be very, very most certainly unlikely,” she said.

“I’m a temporary teacher, which means they have the ability to dismiss me straight away without any recourse.”

The couple agreed to the photo shoot after being approached by a friend who was unable to take part in the article.

“We got some beautiful, loving shots that we wanted for a keepsake and we were paid to do it,” Mr Tziolas said.

“We were honest. Yes, we’re both teachers. Yes, we have sex, and yes, we are loving and committed to each other.

“What we did we both stand by. We would do it again.”
